What happens when you stop simply digitising PROMs and start thinking about how the data can actually support clinical care?
In a recent HTN webinar, Steve Jones, Clinical Psychologist at Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, and Paul Jones from Aire Innovate shared how Sheffield Children’s has transformed the way patient-reported outcome measures are collected, scored and used.
Since launching its digital approach in January 2026, the team has already collected around 600 completed measures, giving clinicians instant access to scored results, visual trends and changes over time.
Steve estimates that completing the same measures during appointments could have taken 50–100 hours of clinical time.
But the real value goes beyond saving time. Consistent gathering or outcomes data is opening up new possibilities: helping clinicians use results live with patients, understand outcomes across different clinical specialties and, over time, build larger datasets that could support research, commissioning and improvements in care.
